Ms. Miller is 100% dedicated to providing the highest quality of professional services available. She loves using her decades of acquired knowledge and skills combined with kindness, to help each person make the changes they seek.
Ms. Miller is practical, interactive, and results-oriented. Her therapy style is integrative, since research about what makes therapy succeed has established that successful therapy is not a” one size fits all” endeavor. In individual counseling/therapy one particular approach is not more effective than another in spite of what you may have heard. It is the fit between a particular individual and the therapy approach offered which leads to the best outcomes. Therapy is customized to the specific needs, desires, and goals of each individual. She is fond of saying “I’m an expert on using therapeutic strategies which work, you are the expert on what works for you, so we work as a team.” She draws from approaches such as cognitive-behavioral, schema therapy, interpersonal, attachment, emotionally- focused, acceptance, and commitment, narrative and psychodynamic.
Ms. Miller is a Certified Master Gottman Marital Therapist and is one of the most experienced and highly skilled Certified Gottman Marital Therapists in California, having been trained personally by John and Julie Gottman in 2001. Her skills in helping couples powerfully change are enhanced by extensive advanced training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy with Sue Johnson and in Imago Therapy with Harville Hendrix. She completed the Advanced Externship in Emotionally-Focused Therapy in 2007.
Ms Miller has appeared on television representing the Department of Behavioral Health of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.to discuss the effects of stress. She has presented at national conferences and trained other mental health professionals in Gottman Marital Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, and the use scientific findings about therapy outcome to maximize the effectiveness of psychotherapy.
